Profitability

Checking availability

See the margin while you can still change it.

Rate cards, timesheets, budgets and allocated expenses roll up on every project, so profitability is current while the work is in motion, not a month-end guess.

Margin built from the real work

Squario prices each hour at the right rate, adds the expenses allocated to the project and sets the total against its budget. Rates are saved on every time entry and timesheets can be locked, so last month’s figures stay put while this month’s update as the team works.

Illustrative data

Every hour priced at the right rate

Rate cards resolve from the member, the role, the project or the workspace, in that order, and the rate is saved on each time entry. Timesheets are submitted and locked, so the cost of an hour doesn’t shift after the fact.

  • Rates that resolve themselves

Squario takes the rate from the member, the role, the project or the workspace, in that order.

  • A rate saved on every entry

Change a rate tomorrow and the hours already logged keep the rate they were saved with.

  • Timesheets you can lock

Members submit their week, and it can then be locked so the figures stop moving.

  • Time cost on every project

Hours at their saved rate become each project’s time cost, updated as entries come in.

Budget against cost, while there’s time to act

Give each project a budget with budget lines, allocate expenses and subscriptions to it, and read its profitability as time and costs land. Dashboards then bring the figures together in your reporting currency.

  • Budget lines per project

Break a project’s budget into lines, such as design, development and content.

  • Expenses counted in the cost

Expenses and subscriptions allocated to a project count in its costs, next to time.

  • Margin while work is in motion

Each project shows committed revenue, cost, margin and hours, updated as time and costs land.

  • Dashboards in one currency

Report on projects and costs in dashboards, with amounts in your reporting currency.

Margin, checked while it still matters

Three moments in a delivery week where the figures are already current, so the talk is about what to do next.

  • Monday, 9:00

The project review starts from the numbers.

Léa opens P-118: half the budget is used and the work is 42% done. Before the review ends, the team decides to propose one fewer design round to Delcourt.

  • Friday afternoon

Timesheets go in, and the costs follow.

Tom and Sofia submit their week. Once the timesheets are locked, each project’s time cost shows the hours at the rates they were logged with. Nothing needs recalculating.

  • Before a new proposal

Past projects shape the next budget.

Before drafting a budget for Maison Arlo’s new website, Inès opens a dashboard of time cost and expenses on two similar past projects, and prices from what they really took.

Questions about profitability

How is a project’s profitability calculated?
From its budget, the time logged at the rates saved on each entry, and the expenses allocated to it. It updates as time and costs land.
Which rate applies to an hour?
Squario takes it from the member, the role, the project or the workspace, in that order, and saves it on the time entry. Changing a rate later doesn’t rewrite past hours.
We work in several currencies. Does that work?
Yes. Dashboards convert amounts to your workspace’s reporting currency, using exchange rates fetched from Open Exchange Rates.
Does Squario invoice our clients?
Not today. Squario tracks budgets, time, costs and profitability per project. Keep your invoicing tool for invoices.
